This is a stop motion sequence of 100 photos of me moving through my hall. Instead of walking in a straight line, I wanted to make it look like I was wondering around, exploring the area around me. This is my first stop motion and it's a bit shaky but I personally think I did a good job and have conveyed my idea clearly

Proposal
Brief
In this assignment I will produce between 4 and 8 images considering the nature of time, unless I produce a time lapse or stop motion sequence: in which case the resulting video must be between 1 and 2 minutes long.
Proposal
For this assignment, I intend on creating a series of photographs in sequence or STOP MOTION of pictures being drawn, painted or spray panted, showing the time and shapes needed for creating art. Along the way I want to discover different mediums of art and how it can be photographed and then put into a stop motion, hopefully I discover something interesting.

Second Shoot

This is my second shoot for my 'SPACE' assignment.
In my first shoot, I ventured to the skatepark (my space) during very late hours, when the space was isolated. For my second shoot, I went to the skatepark in the middle of the day where there were a lot of skaters using the space. By doing this I was able to see the difference between my first and second shoots. I feel that the space works better in my second shoot where there are people around, although the focus should be on the space itself, not the people in the space. I feel the shots are better quality during the day as well, rather than taking them at night.
I have decided for my final photos, I will take pictures of the space during the day, with people using the skatepark, rather than taking pictures at night when no one is there.
I really like this image above because I think it captures the 'beauty' of the space and overall, aesthetically looks good. The short depth of field makes it look more intense and really focuses on the texture of the pole and I think the lens flare looks amazing.

Shutter speeds and F-stops (weekly exercise)
This week I took my photography to the next level and tired using different aperture sizes and shutter speeds. Below are a few experiments of this.
This image was taken with a 4sec shutter speed and an aperture of f/25.0. This type of photograph is quite common in photography, but I wanted to explore the use of a long shutter to show the light-trail of passing cars. This photo came out very well and I'm pleased with the results.

This photo was taken with a shutter speed of 1/4sec and an aperture of f/16. Instead of showing the movement of something using a slow shutter speed, I did the opposite and showed the moving object/person as a still image using a slow shutter. I did this by taking the photo as I was moving with the person, although the image of the person is blurry, the background is blurred MORE than him, showing movement. I think this is an effective use of a slow shutter speed, but I could have done this better.
This is an image of my friend on a skateboard, taken with a shutter speed of 1/4000 and f-stop of f/4.0. Since such a quick shutter, I was able to freeze the movement of this skate-trick. Using a quick shutter is very effective for showing a fast moving image as a freezed picture.
This photograph was taken with a shutter of 1/4000 and an f-stop at f/5.6. This photo has a short depth of field, giving the photo an intense or dynamic look, very effective for close ups.
This image was taken with a shutter of 1/8sec and an aperture of f/11.0. This image has a larger depth of field, as you can see the end of the table isn't as blurry as the image above. I personally prefer using a smaller depth although this can be as effective depending on the photographers intensions.

Panorama & Mini World
This is my panorama I took. I took this photo from the middle of a car park outside Te Papa, with a good mixture of big buildings and landscape (Mt Victoria). I feel that this panorama is successful although I didn't do it as well as I hoped, you can see in some areas that the images don't merge together well enough, but overall a good 360 degree panorama.

This experience gave me a lot of knowledge about creating panoramas and mini worlds, and next time when I do this, I'll be more successful.
Proposal and First Shoot
For the project 'SPACE', I intend on photographing a space I want to explore and a place which I have been before. This space is the Skate Park on the water-front of Wellington. I decided I wanted to show the skatepark for the shapes and textures of the space, rather than typically photographing the skaters who use the park.
For my first shoot, I went to the skatepark at a time where there weren't anyone there, allowing me to focus on photographing the space itself. The images from my first shoot were taken at night, so in order to get a good exposure, I used a LOW shutter speed and a HIGH aperture. I spent a great deal of time looking for aspects of the space to photograph and I feel this shoot includes a range of good photos of the Skatepark.
This is my first shoot, taken at night. As you can see in the photos, it has a 'yellowy tinge' to it, so the white balance on my camera must have been off. Overall I am very happy with the range of photos I photographed that night and I feel this concept has a lot of potential.
This is my favorite photo from my first shoot. I like it because it's a great use of line, all the lines are evenly spaced and is aesthetically pleasing. The colors of the graffiti give life to the dark photo giving it a great contrast from the night-sky. Although if I were to edit this photo in photoshop, I would remover the street light on the top left as it ruins the symmetry of the image.
